Fisher Price Stand 'n Play Rampway Review

momstown Winnipeg was lucky to be selected to review the Fisher-Price Little People Wheelies Stand 'n Play Rampway. The day my package arrived I hide it until the evening so I could set it up while the kids where asleep. I've learned the hard way not to assembly big toys with a toddler and a baby around. So night time came and I opened the box I was pretty overwhelmed. Pieces galore! I asked my husband to help me put it together and he looked at me and said "honey, it's your job to review the product, including assembly." Hmmmm. As much as he was taking the easy way out of helping me, he had a point!


So as I reluctantly started to put the pieces together I quickly realized how easy it was. The pieces snapped together and it helped that they had numbers and coloured dots to direct you. I quickly put it together and started playing with it. I instantly knew it would be a hit with both kids.


Morning came and the look on the kids faces was priceless. It was a great day for this mama, as the kids played with it ALL DAY! Even my 11 month old got right into it. It took him a few tries and watching his big sister but he managed to place the car on the top and watch it go down the ramp. I loved that there where two ramps, so neither kid fought over it. They each took a side. My son got a kick out of the car ramp on the side, moving it up and down. And I loved how there was a parking spot for the cars when the kids weren't playing with it so we didn't lose the cars.

The Stand 'n Play Rampway was a big hit in our house. This mama gives it two thumbs up!

Enjoying My New Toshiba Tablet

Last weekend I attended the momstown National Conference in Burlington, Ontario. We had a weekend packed with training, brainstorming, strategic planning and loads of fun! We had a ton of fabulous sponsors, one being Toshiba. They sent us four Toshiba Tablets to play with through out the weekend.

As I was using the tablet I quickly realized how helpful it would be in my everyday work. I could bring it to client meetings to show them our interactive momstown website, display our site or photo slide shows at trade shows, and bring it where ever I go so I can be more productive at work. Perfect for this mama, who is big on social media sites like facebook, twitter and the momstown Winnipeg message board. And the entertainment is an added bonus!

I was fortunate to be voted by my peers to win one of the tablets at the conference. I've been playing with my new tablet ever since. My husband and daughter have been enjoying it too. It's easy to use and light and compact.

My daughter loves touching the screen.

What I love best about the tablet is the ease of typing. The keyboard is the right size. The colour and graphics are sharp and the touch is just right. Not too sensitive to the touch. I also really like the grip on the back, which is perfect for not slipping off the table easily when those little hands get a hold of the tablet.

Kidsfest Review & Giveaway - CLOSED

Looking for something fun to do this month? Take the whole family to Kidsfest! This year's Kidsfest is June 9-12 at The Forks in Winnipeg. 

Kidsfest is put on by the Winnipeg International Children’s Festival, who has been entertaining children and their families for over 25 years with positive educational entertainment - in a festival environment created just for them.

I went to check out www.kidsfest.ca to see what types of activities they have planned. First off, you should check out their website. Not only is it fun and colourful but it’s so well laid out and easy to find what you’re looking for. The site is loaded with details of the upcoming event.

So what will you expect to see at Kidsfest this year? They have everything from zany circus acts, high strung acrobatics, kidstock for the music lovers and loads of arts and crafts (a momstown Winnipeg favourite)!

Fred Penner and The Cats Meow Band will be there, along with Dallas Arcand, a high energy Aboriginal entertainer.  And of course there is good old traditional face painting! Why I love my Fisher Price Luv U Zoo!

When I set up our Graco swing for baby Benjamin’s arrival I forgot how big it was. It takes up a lot of space! And it’s noisy. I contemplated buying a little bouncer but my husband didn’t want to spend money when we had a perfectly good swing at home. Benjamin is now six weeks old. He hasn’t cared much for the swing. He has to have a soother in his mouth and be in a particular mood to not cry in the swing. I’m still figuring out what that ‘mood’ is. It’s hit and miss.

So when I found out that I would be getting a Fisher Price Luv U Zoo bouncer to test out, I was ecstatic. I prayed as I set it up that he would love it. My arms needed a break, as this baby loves to be held at ALL times!

First off, setting it up is a piece of cake. My husband usually puts together everything, but when it arrived at my door on a day that Benjamin was not a happy baby, I thought I’d give it a shot. My husband was at work and I couldn’t wait until the evening. Anything to get this baby to settle down! So I set it up and he calmed down immediately and actually fell asleep in it!

So after a few weeks of testing out this product, I’m happy to report that Benjamin loves his Fisher Price Luv U Zoo bouncer. He rarely cries when he’s in it and he actually tries to play with the hanging animals. He’s only 6 weeks old! Already trying to play! The bouncer soothes him, without needing a soother in his mouth like the swing we have. And it’s quiet. Even when the vibrator is on! What I love most about it is how light and compact it is. I can bring it all around the house. I even take it outside and have him play in his bouncer while his big sister plays outside. It will be perfect to bring along to momstown Winnipeg events!

The Luv U Zoo bouncer has given me that extra set of hands that every mom needs. I’ve been able to finally eat my food while it’s hot, bouncing him with my foot as I eat my meals. He’s also fallen asleep on the bouncer quite a few times when nothing else worked.
